Biography
Hrystyna Lukashchuk is a Ukrainian artist, writer, architect, illustrator, author of children's books and blogger. Her work combines visual arts, literature and architecture, and her books are a vivid intersection of text, color, narrative and patriotism.
Education and professional path
She was born in 1972 in Lviv. In parallel with her school education, she graduated from the Children's Art School, then from the Lviv School of Applied Arts named after AND. Trusha (specialty: art ceramics).
Higher education โ at Lviv State Agrarian University in the direction of architecture of buildings and structures.
Worked in architecture, and since 2000 โ participant in art exhibitions, including:
- personal exhibition of painting on glass "Easter" (2001, Lviv Museum of Ethnography)
- numerous exhibitions of decorative and applied arts
Literary activity and honors
The writer's debut took place in 2014 with the children's book "The Tale of the Maidan", which was followed by "Mysterious Dinner" (2015). Since then, Khrystyna Lukashchuk has become a recognized author of children's, educational and patriotic books.
- Laureate of the "Coronation of the Word" contest โ 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012
- Winner of the Oles Honchar Award (Borysten magazine, 2015) โ for works that contribute to the spiritual and patriotic education of children and youth
- Published in the literary magazine "Dzvin"
Illustrations and art books
Bright, decorative, symbolically rich illustrations are one of the creative signatures of the author. She issued:
- "Such an interesting life" by Iryna Tsylyk
- "In the kingdom of the Lion" Lyubov Viduta
- "Bunny happiness" by Larisa Nisoi
- "The Owl Who Wanted to Become a Lark" by Galina Vdovichenko โ awarded the BaraBuka prize as the best picture book of 2018 and included in the international catalog "White Crows 2019"
In 2018, two biographical art books were published:
- "Mykola Lemyk"
- "Mykhailo Soroka"
These editions are distinguished by the equal role of text and visual design, telling children and teenagers about the figures of the Ukrainian liberation movement.
Latest projects
- "What do leaves dream about" is an interactive book for children, created on the basis of illustrations by Oksana Drachkovska, which were finalists of the Bologna Illustrators Exhibition (2021)
Hrystyna Lukashchuk creates at the intersection of genres, media and formats, maintaining focus on aesthetics, upbringing, love for Ukraine and art in the broadest sense. Her books are not only literature, but also a visual experience, a dialogue with a child, and the preservation of national identity.
