Biography

Elina Ivanivna Zarzhytska is a Ukrainian writer, journalist, social activist, author of fairy tales, adventure and historical stories for children. Her work combines deep educational content, bright imagery and close attention to the needs of the young reader. Writes in Ukrainian and Russian.

Education and professional activity

She was born in Dnipropetrovsk. She received her education at the National Mining University, as well as at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Institute of Patent Studies. Member of National Union of Writers of Ukraine and National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

Active public figure, jury member of a number of literary and art competitions, including:

  • International Festival of Children's Art "Magic Book"
  • All-Ukrainian award named after Oleksandra Kravchenko (Devil)
  • Competitions "Young Muse", "Literary Hope of the Dnipro"

Heads the section Literature for children and youth "Jerelo" at the State Educational Institution of the NSPU.

  • Winner of the "Writers for children" contest (1997, Odesa)
  • Special award of the jury of the radio play competition "Reviving a forgotten genre" (2010, Kyiv)
  • Literary prize named after Olesya Honchara ("Borysten" magazine*, 2010)
  • Diplomat of the "Coronation of Words" contest for the children's novel "Kitenya Timko and Captain Terevenko" (2011)
  • Awards of the festival "New Year's extravaganza", competition "Constellation of Muses of Dnipropetrovsk", story competition "Glass of TimeZeitglas"*, project "With love for children"

Projects and initiatives

  • Co-founder of the project "Audio book "Writers of Dnipropetrovsk region - for school libraries" (2012)
  • Compiler of the ecological reader "Our best friend is nature" (2013)
  • Collaboration with composer Valentina Falkova — writing librettos for musical fairy tales
  • Her poems are set to music and performed in children's theaters and competitions
