Biography and education

Yevgenia Chupryna was born in 1971 in Kyiv. She received her higher education at the Philological Faculty of Kyiv State University, which laid the foundation for her future activities in literature, theater art, and cultural activism.


Linguistic and creative evolution

Until 2010, she wrote mainly in Russian, but with the beginning of a new stage in the history of Ukraine, she switched to Ukrainian, thereby proving not only her linguistic, but also her cultural position. This transition also affected her creative style — more pointed, civic, emotionally deep.


Literary activity

Chupryna is poet, translator, playwright, author of numerous poetic and prose texts. She combines the poetic word with performance and music, which distinguishes her among modern Ukrainian authors.

In addition to her creative work, Evgenia actively acts as a literary manager. She was the personal agent of Oles Ulyanenko, one of the most controversial writers of Ukraine, and after his death she became the head of the organizing committee of the International Literary Award named after him, as well as the coordinator of the Ulyan-fest festival dedicated to his legacy.


Performance, theater and music

Yevgenia Chuprina is a bright performer and musician. She is the leader of the "Wowchoke" band, previously performed with the punk bands "Vapno" and "Regulators". Her stage performances are a combination of poetry, emotional expression and musical drive, which brings her work into the realm of multi-genre art.


Civic position and cultural initiative

During the Revolution of Dignity, Chupryna became one of the initiators of the "Artistic Barbican" — an artistic movement on the Maidan barricades. She organized poetic and literary readings, creating a space of cultural resistance and solidarity.

The result of this activity was the anthology "Artistic Barbican. Trikutnyk 92", which collected the works of members of the artistic movement that combined the voice of the generation with the protest spirit of the time.


Publishing activity

Since 2020, Evgenia Chupryna has been working at the Laurus publishing house, where she participates in publishing and cultural projects, coordinates processes, promotes the promotion of Ukrainian authors and book initiatives.
