Education and career

Oksana Senyuk graduated from the Philological Faculty of Kyiv State University named after T.G. Shevchenko (1976). After that, she worked in publishing (1969-1978) and journalistic work (1978-1989). Her literary activity also includes research in the field of artistic translation, as well as an active role in the popularization of European literature in Ukraine.

Creativity

Senyuk is the author of numerous poetry books, including:

  • "Thunder's Birthday" (1984)
  • "Royal Flower" (1988)
  • "Guests" (1986)
  • "A sip of silence" (1999)
  • "Elephant travels to his mother" (2001)
  • "Temptation to speak" (2008)
  • "The house is as old as the world" (1999)
  • "The Moon in the Cradle" (2012)

Oksana is also the author of a number of folklore books for children:

  • "Mom Maryanka's toys" (1992, co-authored)
  • "Well, everything was well thought out by God" (2003)

In his books, Senyuk turns to national themes, often highlighting Ukrainian folk heritage and interpreting it for children and youth.

Translations and international activities

Oksana Senyuk has extensive experience translating from Belarusian, German, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian languages. Her translations include the works of famous authors:

  • Hans Christian Andersen, Gunnel Linde, Edith Cedergren, Astrid Lindgren, Yui and Thomas Wieslander and many others.

Senyuk also translated works for children, including famous fairy tales and stories that have a significant cultural impact in the world.

Awards and recognition

Oksana Senyuk has been awarded several prestigious awards, including:

  • Prize named after Ivan Ohienko (1996)
  • Svitoslov Award for "pure brilliance of metaphor" (2005)
  • Prize named after Maxim Rylsky in the field of artistic translation (2007)
  • Certificate of the President of the Forum of Publishers in Lviv (2004)

Influence on Ukrainian literature and culture

Oksana Senyuk not only actively writes and translates, but also participates in cultural initiatives related to the popularization of Ukrainian literature and the promotion of intercultural dialogue. She also actively works as an editor and author of popular science articles devoted to Ukrainian and foreign writers.
