Biography
Halyna Kruk is a Ukrainian poet, writer, literary critic, translator, scientist and teacher, born on November 30, 1974 in Lviv.
Education and scientific activity
Halyna Kruk is a philologist by education, specializing in medieval studies. In 2001, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic "Ukrainian grassroots baroque: poetics of style and genre". This became the basis for her further scientific career. As a scientist, she actively researches Ukrainian literature and culture, her scientific works are highly rated among specialists.
Literary activity
Halyna Kruk is one of the most prominent figures in the modern Ukrainian poetic space. Her work combines philosophical reflections, intimate lyrics and irony, which makes her works deep and multifaceted.
Galina's first poetry books "Travels in Search of Home" (1997) and "Footprints in the Sand" (1997) were warmly received by critics and readers. She continued to develop her poetic skill, and in 2005 the collection "Faces out of the picture" was published, which cemented her status as a recognized author.
Her works are widely published in Ukrainian literary publications and anthologies, including:

In addition to poetry for adults, Halyna Kruk is also the author of children's books. Her stories and poems were published in children's editions and were included in anthologies, in particular in "Tales of the Old Lion" (2003). She is also the author of two online books: "Marko travels around the world" and "It's hard to be the smallest", created as part of the international project "Step by step" (Netherlands). These books have been translated into 15 languages.
Awards and recognition
Halyna Kruk is a laureate of literary contests:
- "Granoslov" (1996)
- "Greetings of life" named after B.-I. Antonycha (1996)
She is also a scholarship of the program "Gaude Polonia" of the Ministry of Culture of Poland (2003).
Teaching activities
Halyna Kruk is a member of the Association of Ukrainian Writers and the Ukrainian PEN Club. She teaches foreign literature at Lviv Ivan Franko National University.
