Biography

This Ukrainian intellectual is a poet, essayist, teacher and cultural figure, born on July 6, 1975 in Lviv. Her name is associated with many cultural initiatives, educational programs and poetry projects in Ukraine and abroad.


Literary creativity

She made her debut with the poetry collection "No longer transparent" (1997), which established her as one of the leading representatives of the generation of the nineties. In 1999, she won the first prize of the competition of the Smoloskip publishing house, which was a recognition of her poetic talent.

Her poetry is distinguished by its philosophical, deep emotionality, emphasis on individual experience and issues of identity. The poems were translated into Polish, Lithuanian, English, Armenian, Romanian and set to music.

In 2017, a bilingual selection collection A Field of Foundlings translated by Grace Magoni was published in the USA. This book started the English-language series of modern Ukrainian poetry published by Lost Horse Press.


Cultural activities and international recognition

Participated in leading European cultural forums:

  • European Forum of Cultures in Luxembourg (2005)
  • European Congress of Women Writers in Budapest (2008)
  • World Symposium in Norway dedicated to Björnstjerne Björnson (2010)

For contribution to overcoming conflicts of cultural memory she was awarded the honorary award "Keys to the City".


Educational and expert activity

Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), where she teaches:

  • Critical and creative thinking
  • History of ideas and cultural practices
  • Research seminar on cultural studies

Delivers lectures, moderates public discussions in Ukraine and European countries. Also:

  • Is a member of the supervisory board of the Educational Center for Human Rights
  • Heads the literary prize "UNESCO City of Literature" (since 2018)
  • She is an expert of the Translate Ukraine program from the Ukrainian Book Institute
  • Participates in the Jury of NVCE grant programs

Media presence and popularization of literature

The author and host of the literary TV program "Tomy" on Lviv television, in which she introduced viewers to modern Ukrainian literature. Her active presence in the public space contributes to the development of literary criticism, media education and the formation of intellectual dialogue in Ukraine.


This creative personality combines poetry, essay writing, teaching and cultural diplomacy, acting as an important figure in the modern Ukrainian literary and educational process.
