Lesya Kichura is a Ukrainian storyteller, writer, journalist, candidate of sciences in social communications.
Biography
Lesya Kichura was born November 4, 1981 in one of the villages near Lviv. She received her primary education at the ** secondary school of Novy Yarychiv , which she graduated in 1999. In the same year, she entered the Faculty of Journalism of the Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko**, where she chose the specialization "Editing and publishing". In 2004, she graduated from the university.
Education and scientific activity
In 2007–2010, Lesya Kichura studied at the graduate school of LNU named after Ivan Franko. In 2011, she defended her candidate's thesis on social communications, obtaining the scientific degree of candidate of sciences.
For more than six years she worked as an assistant professor of the Department of Ukrainian Press of the Faculty of Journalism of LNU, and also taught at the Faculty of Culture and Arts.
Media activity
In addition to academic work, Lesya Kichura realized herself as a media person, hosting the TV program "Book Club of the Publishers' Forum" on the "PravdaTut" TV channel, where novelties of the book market were discussed.
Literary creativity
Lesya Kichura's literary activity began in 2005, when she wrote the first fairy tale "The Caring Cow" for her son. Over time, her fabulous work expanded. On February 14, 2017, she launched the social book project "Good Mother's Tales", the goal of which was to encourage children to read.
Inclusive formats
Lesya Kichura actively works in the direction of inclusive initiatives. Several of her books were published in Braille with tactile illustrations in cooperation with Resource Center of NU "Lviv Polytechnic". Also, the texts of her fairy tales were recorded in the author's voice in audiobook format.
In 2020, her fairy tale "Offended Eraser" was included in the first Ukrainian-language collection of fairy tales published in Braille in Hungary.
Awards
Lesya Kichura is a laureate of the Panteleimon Kulish International Literary and Art Award (2016) and the Natalie Zabila Award (2019).
Contribution to the development of children's literature
Her work actively popularizes Ukrainian children's literature, especially among younger readers, encouraging them to dive deeper into fairy-tale worlds through the integration of inclusive formats and the latest technologies.
