Biography
Lyubov Vasylivna Golota is a Ukrainian poetess, novelist, publicist, talented journalist and one of the brightest personalities in Ukrainian literature. Her work includes poetry, prose, journalism and deep reflections on the society and culture of Ukraine. Lyubov Golota is a laureate of numerous awards, her works are widely recognized not only in Ukraine, but also abroad.
Biography and education
Born: December 31, 1949 in Kryvyi Roza, in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, in a family of miners.
Education: in 1972 she graduated from the philological faculty of Dnipropetrovsk University.
After graduating from the university, she decided to try herself in journalism, which became her main profession and the passion of her work. Her career as a journalist was extremely influential in shaping public consciousness.
Writing activity
The first collection of poems "Born in the Steppes" was published in 1976, it was the beginning of her literary journey. After that came "Spring Equinox" (1979), "Horitsvit" (1980), "Windows" (1983).
In 1983, she moved to Kyiv, where she continued to work in publishing houses and create new collections:
- "Women and Birds" (1985)
- "Mirrors" (1988)
- "To a man's voice" (1996)
- "Irradiated by Time" (2001)
Journalistic activity
In 1995, she became editor-in-chief of the all-Ukrainian cultural weekly "Word of Enlightenment", which covered the problems of spirituality and culture in Ukraine.
Lyubov Golota was also the host of programs on Ukrainian Radio: "Significant figure", "Evening meetings", "At the intersection of thoughts".
In 2002, she published the nonfiction book "The Human Child", and in 2005 - "Creation".
Novel and awards
In 2007, her novel "Episodic Memory" was published, which received recognition and was awarded the National Prize of Ukraine named after Taras Shevchenko in 2008. This novel is a reflection on the generation of the 70s, on totalitarianism and the stages of Soviet society.

- Honorary citizen of Skopje (2008, Macedonia)
- The first prize for a poetry book in Macedonia (2008)
- First prize for the radio play "Herald" (2011, IV All-Ukrainian competition of radio plays of the National Radio)
Impact and legacy
Lyubov Golota is an active public figure and member of the Central Board of the All-Ukrainian Society "Prosvita". She was the organizer of the first women's cultural journal "Pyata pora" in Ukraine.
Her work leaves a significant mark in the culture and literature of Ukraine, and her deep, wise works about woman, family, patriotism, and life have become important for understanding the history, culture, and contemporary problems of Ukrainian society.
