General Information

Iryna Ivanivna Chernova, known under the pseudonym Lyuko Dashvar, is a Ukrainian writer, editor, screenwriter and journalist.

Until 2006, she actively worked in journalism, and after that she focused on writing scripts for television.

Education and Early Years

She was born on October 3, 1957 in Kherson. Has two higher educations:

  • Odesa Institute of Light Industry β€” specialty mechanical engineer
  • Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine β€” specialty public administration (master's degree)

After obtaining a technical education, she worked in her specialty, got married, gave birth to children. Subsequently, she changed her professional trajectory.

Journalistic Activities

In 1986, she started working in a newspaper as a letter cover. Six months later, she became deputy editor-in-chief.

  • 1991 β€” chief editor of the youth newspaper in Kherson
  • After the collapse of the USSR β€” head of the press and information committee of the Kherson regional state administration
  • Founded two private newspapers, the editorial offices of which were later looted
  • Moved with her family to Kiev

Since 2001, she has been the editor-in-chief of the Selyanska Zorya newspaper, where she started the column "I remember my whole life" β€” a collection of readers' personal stories.

She also worked in women's magazines as a journalist and editor.

Literary and Screenplay Practice

Since 2006, she has fully devoted herself to writing and screenwriting.

Laureate of the "Coronation of the Word" literary award:
