Marina Ponomarenko is the voice of modern poetry and script art of Ukraine


Education and professional training

Born in 1984 in the village of Hryhorivka in the Kyiv region, Maryna Ponomarenko connected her life with art. She received her professional education at the Kyiv State University of Theatre, Film and Television named after Ivan Karpenko-Kary, where she studied film and television dramaturgy under the guidance of the outstanding Ukrainian screenwriter Bohdan Zholdak. This school shaped her as a screenwriter who thinks visually, rhythmically and emotionally precisely.


Scenario activity

Maryna Ponomarenko realized herself in cinema by creating scripts for short films:

  • "Isolde" (dir. K. Kucher, 2011)
  • "Borysivna" (dir. O. Bykov, 2018)

Her attention to subtle psychological nuances, sincere emotionality and deep images is palpable in these works.


Poetic work and theater

A special place in her work is occupied by poetry, which is multilayered, visual, cinematic in feel. Her poems became the basis for theatrical play "TutIZar" (2022), staged in Kyiv's ToTeatr. This confirms the transience of her artistic worldview — from a poetic line to a stage action.
