Oksana Pakhlivska is a Ukrainian writer, translator, cultural expert, doctor of philological sciences, professor.
Biography
Oksana Pakhlivska was born September 18, 1956 in Kiev. She is the daughter of the outstanding Ukrainian poetess Lina Kostenko, which significantly influenced her intellectual and cultural development.
Education and scientific career
In 1980, Oksana Pakhlivska graduated from Moscow State University, where she majored in Italian language and literature. Then she continued her education at the graduate school of the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in Kyiv, where she defended her candidate and later her doctoral dissertation.
She began her scientific career at the Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. After moving to Italy, she became a professor at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", where she also headed the department of Ukrainian Studies at the Department of European and Intercultural Studies.
Scientific interests and activities
The field of scientific interests of Oksana Pakhlivska covers a wide range of topics, including:
- Ancient and modern Ukrainian poetry.
- Ukrainian sixties and postmodernism.
- Ukrainian translation school and European reception of Ukrainian culture.
- Ukrainian-Italian relations, cultural diplomacy and the Ukrainian diaspora.
Oksana Pakhlivska is an active participant in the scientific and cultural life of Europe, a member of the Directive Committee of the Italian Association of Ukrainian Studies, the Italian Association of Slavists, the Scientific Council of the Institute of Social and Religious History in Vicenza, as well as the Shevchenko Scientific Society (NTSh).
Translation activity
Oksana Pakhlivska is a well-known translator who works with works of Spanish and Italian classics. Among the authors she translated are:

Contribution to the development of Ukrainian literature

Awards and recognition
Oksana Pakhlivska was awarded the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine in 2010 for her significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and literature.
