Biography

Olga Kupriyan is a Ukrainian writer, literary critic, literary critic and public figure, who was born on May 23, 1988 in the village of Makovyshche, Makariv district, Kyiv region in a family of teachers.

Education and career

Olga graduated from National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy", Faculty of Ukrainian Philology. Already at the university, she began to write reviews and reviews of modern books, mastering the interview genre. She also worked as a graduate editor of the Ukrainian newspaper specializing in book publishing and literary criticism Reader's Friend", editor of the Ukrainian book web portal "LitAkcent", proofreader and head of the press center at the Grani-T" publishing house**.

Literary activity

Olga Kupriyan is the co-founder of the annual "Critic's rating: the best children's and teenage books of the year" and the coordinator of the BaraBooka project — Space of the Ukrainian children's book. She runs the blog "Reader's notes to Christi Nechytayko", dedicated to children's and adolescent literature.

Her first novel for teenagers Salty Kisses (2016) won the Critics Rating Award for Best Debut. Olga is also the author of books, including:

  • "Berkyts sees off grandfather" (2018),
  • "Superglue for a vase" (2018),
  • "Good morning!" (2019),
  • "Mammoth" (2019),
  • "Lola's Diary" (2018) is a prequel book to the popular series #School,
  • "I, Nina" (2019) co-authored with Yanina Sokolova,
  • "Myroslava and others from our yard" (2021),
  • "Murkytsia is lost / Zagubiona Mruczusia" (2023) is a picture book that tells about forced emigration during the war.

Recognition and awards

Her book "Lola's Diary" received the award of the jury "LitAccent of the year 2018". In co-authorship with Yanina Sokolova, the book "I, Nina" won the BookForum Best Book Award 2020 in the "Modern Ukrainian Prose" category.

Personal life

Olga Kupriyan likes to buy and give away books, especially children's books. She is unable to name one favorite writer, but is always ready to list several books that changed her world.
